During early 2006 the Skegness Group began a survey of all public rights of way within our area. Within our 39 parishes we currently have 303 footpaths, 12 bridleways and 1 byway. The Group has a comprehensive database of the condition of all of these paths. Each path was given a grade according to what condition it was in on the day it was walked, but it is known that the condition of some paths can vary throughout the year, particularly cross-field paths.

Our initial survey revealed that 65% of our areas paths are in an excellent, good or satisfactory condition with only 20% being impassable or partially impassable. Several path problems have been resolved in recent years and the situation is gradually improving.

It is intended that our database will be kept up to date as the paths are walked. The current path count for each condition category is given in the table.
